Frontline's independent training and workforce development specialists are working with shading and security screen businesses across Australia to ensure continuity of training following the closure of ITHEA (RTO 22037) on 6 January 2026. The closure has affected more than 200 apprentices and trainees enrolled in the MSF30919 Certificate III in Blinds, Awnings, Security Screens and Grilles nationally.
Since 2017, Frontline has collaborated with industry partners to build and maintain a strong national training program with high participation and completion rates, particularly among culturally diverse learners, women and mature‑age workers. Supporting this progress remains a priority as interim arrangements are established.
Acting on behalf of industry, we are engaging with state training authorities, confirmed ongoing employer commitment, and secured the support of qualified trainers to minimise disruption.
We remain committed to ensuring apprentices and trainees can continue their training without disadvantage, and that all completed work and records are preserved and transferred appropriately. Further updates will be provided as government decisions and interim arrangements are finalised.
Safer spaces for Women and Children represents this year’s chosen initiative to support women and children’s refuge accommodation in Australia. Each year, Frontline Futures contributes to a different cause, and in 2025 the focus is on improving the safety and usability of refuges for those escaping domestic and family violence.
The program will provide free external shading, security doors, and window screens, installed by qualified tradespeople and supported by apprentices—particularly women over 25 from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. A pilot is planned for late 2025 to early 2026, with the aim of demonstrating how practical trade solutions can enhance comfort, security, and recovery in refuge environments.
